Best Menu Size?
by Streetdog on Jul 5, 2006 at 8:01:00 am

In Reel DVD I was used to making my menus 720X540 and then scaling to 720X480. Am I correct in assuming this is still the best way do go with DVDit? I have to apply "stretch" to see the image properly for making active areas in DVDit, but I'm assuming that when going to disk it will ignore the "stretch" and deliver better quality than "shrinking" a 540 image to 480.

Thanks.

Re: Best Menu Size?-Test Results

Ran a test of 720 X 480 vs 720 X 540 Photoshop menu builds. The 720 X 480 must be used with "stretch" toggled, but produce a slightly sharper menu. In my run, it was slight... I could see the difference on a good broadcast moniter, a very slight difference on a good consumer TV and no difference on an average consumer TV-- all comparisons made using S-VHS player output.
