Andy,
DVDit 6 supports 2 layer Photoshop files named background and overlay. I have not seen the Pixelpops templates, though I am sure you will have to play with them to get them to work. I would probably do a "save as" on a template and then flatten all of the layers except for the text (or object) overlay into a layer called background with the overlay called overlay. Then you import the PSD into the images area of the palette and use the highlight tool (looks like a cross) on the menu above the design stage and drag a box around your text and overlay. Then either right click on the button and set the link or drag an asset from the project tree to the button to set a link.
Tip - to see your highlight layers press N, C and A on your keyboard while you are designing your menu.

I was just curious. VideoGuys is giving away PixelPops pkd when you buy DVDit 6.1. I would have assumed the integration would have been a bit more intuitive.
