Hey FYI....

We've been using MPEG Stream Clip software to Batch encode Motion Projects

1) Change extension of project from .motn to .mov
2) Drop in MPEG Stream Clip or it's Batch List
3) Set encoding settings

Let 'er Rip....

At least with my V3....it's faster than Motion itself and leaves Motion free to keep working while it renders....

:)

Hang on your telling me that you can drag your motion file into MPEG, and it will render it into a movie??

Hope I was helpful,

Hey AJ...

well....I remembered the old trick about using motion projects in AE.

You basically set the motion project extension from .motn to .mov

On a lark I then dragged the project to MPEG Stream Clip and it read it.

I then set my render and it worked. FAST.
I have also set the batch list...and it worked fine when I had like 10 versions of something to render.

This is similar to using compressor, as I right click motion projects all the time and render them with compressor droplets. But I've found compressor to be a little flaky/glitchy on heavier motion projects. I've not yet had any problem with MPEG stream clip.

Now....

let me preface this by saying: I'm using Motion 3 on OS 10.5.8 with QT 7.7.

I can't vouch for anything past that.

I am very interested in hearing if you guys can make it work with newer versions of Motion, etc.

I had heard/read somewhere that you can spotlight motion projects can be spotlighted in newer versions of OSX, so I assumed that it's still tied into QT the same way....so it SHOULD work.....but that doesn't guarantee that it will.

Fingers crossed....

keep me posted...

Yeah it doesn't work for me (motion 5). It says unrecognized file.

That's a real shame. But I suppose Compressor is a tad bit faster now?

Yep, this changed with the update to Motion 5. Great trick while it worked though!

So I guess with the new Compressor, it's irrelevant anyway, right?
