Hi all
It's an odd one, because the files display in the file browser preview within Motion, but when I drag them into the project, they appear in the timeline but don't display in the viewer. The frame is there, but the image is missing inside it.
The PSD files I'm working with in particular were originally JPGs that I've manipulated by isolating elements of the image and placing on a transparent background. I THINK it's likely to be a colour management issue, but I've tried every possible combination of assigning RGB profiles etc and it doesn't want to work. The files have got some sort of ''Japan' profile attached......but that doesn't mean much to me.

Any help gratefully appreciated, and I'll gladly supply the files for somebody to have a stab with if the offer's there.

Thanks in advance.

Wallace

It sounds like the PSD is RGB. Is it 8-bit?

Hi Stephen
Not sure what the problem is.
I've uploaded an image of the profile assignment message that appears.

I've been playing again this morning, and adjusted the image mode to an RGB profile from within the photoshop workspace (rather than when opening it), carried out the edit I wanted, re-saved, and re-imported to Motion.
This time, it's appeared BUT, it's absolutely shredded the image quality! It's rough as hell.

..........????

Sorry Stephen, I should have explained.
The problem stems from importing that jpg into Photoshop, editing it, saving it as a .psd and then trying to work with it in Motion

Got it. I just opened up the .jpg and it is a CMYK file. Change it to RGB and that should solve your problem. Best of luck.

Tried that, and it shreds the quality when I import it into Motion.
If you can try it yourself, then let me know whether it does the same for you.

Very grateful for the help

Yep, I know it looks fine when you convert it to RGB in Photoshop. That's not the problem.
The problem, is when you import it into Motion. It completely knackers the quality, and I can't work out why.
Can't think that it would be a graphics card issue because it's never been a problem before..... ?

I'm using Motion 5, but that shouldn't matter.
What version of photoshop are you using to export the psd?

I'm on the newest version, CS6.

To make it RGB I went to Image, Mode, RGB Color.

I'm using CS5 - but exactly the same process as you've described there.
What about when you first open the jpg with Photoshop? What option do you select for the assigning a profile?
