Missing media

Hello all and thanks in advance for your help.
I've got a .psd file that I'm using as an image mask on some sparkles. Straight forward enough, right?
Right.
Then I close the project and reopen it later and there is no media, just a lot of ? marks. The media is shown under the media tab, but reconnecting them (in this case the .psd file and the sparks11 file that comes with motion) doesn't make my timeline reappear - it stays confoundingly empty.
I'm on the verge of creating everything for this project in one session, but this does nothing for me if the client wants changes.
I trashed the prefs, but the problems remain.
Theories? Suggestions? On-line training instructions for seppuku?

Hi,
Okay when using the media tab are you pressing the 'replace media file' at the bottom? If when it asks for the file, unhighlight the 'show matching name only'. If you have already tried this then reinstall motion.

I appreciate your continued patience.
So I did as you suggested and reinstalled Motion, as per your outline on the last posting.
Still no media.
I do have a backup of my system disk that I made just before upgrading to 5.1.2 of the Final Cut Studio, back when everything worked. Time to revert you think?

Hi,
Try using disk utility and fix permissions.
If possible try opening on other mac running motion.
As for going back to your previous system it depends on what you mean and how, I would just try reinstalling mac os 10.4 again and choose to put your current system as backup. So at least the new installation will have all your settings such as apps, email, desktop layout.
