Hey gang, I'm hunting down a new web host and was looking for some recommendations.

Here are some of my parameters:

Wordpress support
Fast and responsive for page loading
Reasonably fast FTP and direct download back end (for moving files around and quick downloads for client previews, etc)
Reliable and stable

The fast FTP is really the key- I dont want clients having to suffer through 200kb/s downloads.....I'd love to get something that can push 600kb/s+ symmetrical.

We switched over to Host Nexus 2 years ago and have absolutely loved it. I would highly recommend.

We use Hostgator and get about 600kbs upload speeds via Transmit, uses wordpress, etc. We use Google Apps for our email hosting, which is fantastic. HostGator's push email isn't so great, but Google Apps works fine with it. Also, it's like, 8 bucks a month or something. Stupid cheap.

I'm gonna steal some of this leads and check these places out myself... so thanks, all.

We have always done our own hosting on our own internal servers here in our building. That has, on occasion, prompted some other people to ask "Why are you doing that, since external hosting is so cheap?" Which makes me respond, "Hmmm, I dunno... why are we doing it this way?"
