Audition: recording problems with USB interface
by sarah jones on Jun 10, 2010 at 12:40:52 pm
I have a USB Tascam interface plugged into my computer. I have a microphone plugged into this interface.
When I record with Sony Soundforge and ensure that the devices are set to input audio from the USB unit, I get crystal clear sound.
When I try to record in the edit view of Adobe Audition 1.5, with the device order and device properties set to input audio from the USB unit, I get terrible sound. The sound is being recorded off of the microphone in my laptop, not through the USB interface.

Try setting the Windows audio mixer to use the USB device as the default sound card. And/or remove the default sound drivers so there are no other sound devices besides the USB device.
Audition 1.5 is a little old and constrained compared to newer versions.
Good luck
Steve

Thanks, Steve. When I go to Options>Windows Recording Mixer, I get this error message: "Cannot find the mixer program "sndvol32/r." Any idea what that means and how to proceed?

Hi, I have just joined CreativeCOW :)
In the past I used Windows XP with Creative Platinum external sound cards and the software Adobe Audition 1.5.
GREAT satifastion and amazing results.
Then Windows 7 64 bit with a new computer, my Creative soundcards are kaput :(
I have tried PreSonus FireStudio with Adobe Audition and just blue screens and reboots, so back to Sam Ash and this time they sold me a Zoom R16 that comes with Cubase LE5. Now Steinberg tells me to get features like pitch correction I have to spend more money :(
WHAT ELSE do people use to record directly to Audition without problems with Windows 7?
Thank you in advance for any assistance or recommendations.
