Cleanplates Tutorial
by matttpotter on Sep 29, 2006 at 10:54:34 pm

Howdy, trying out Mokey here, doing the cleanplates tutorial. Is it just me or are some of the controls different in the tutorial verse version 4 of monet?

The tutorial instructs you to set both layers to "Doesnt Move" in the Max Motion group in the tracker parameters. Then says Track the Layers through the clip and then switch to remove.

For the life of me I can not find the "Doesnt Move" button or box to click. I can't seem to find anything that says Max Motion either. In the TRACK tab I DO see in the MOTION tab a circle to click that will DISABLE TRACK. And moving over if I click the EDGE TRACK tab there is an option to enable the Max Horizontal Motion and Max Vertical Motion. Is this what the tutroial is talking about?

And while I am here. As far as Tracking the Layers through the clip is that by pushing the "Extrapolate Forwards" button? Because when I DO click DISABLE track that button greys out.

Help is much appreciated!

Thanks

Mattt

Also what is the best possible settings for exporting a still image so that I can paint it and use it for a cleanplate? I tried a few different ways via FINAL cut, using HD footage and it all seems to be blurry in comparison. Any hot tips suggestions? Come on smarter people than me! I know you got those mad skills you are ready to drop on me!

Mattt,

yes the Doesn't Move tick box has been replaced by the Disable Track tick box. We need to update the tutorial. Sorry it's not up to date.

Use any uncompressed format for your cleanplates, e.g. targa, tiff, DPX.

Sorry we took so long to reply to this. We're setting up new systems right now and we don't look at them all frequently enough.
