sony hrv 270 lens control question
by Ronnie Martin on Jun 22, 2009 at 7:37:35 pm

At NAB I saw a Sony Lanc controller for the 270. Anyone know if the rocker switch is pressure sensitive or is it just an off on switch with the speed of the zoom controlled by something else?
Also, there is a plug on the right front of the camera just below the lens that is labeled lens control. What is this plug for?

Thanks

Ronnie,
The plug below the lens is to control 3rd party lenses you may attach to the S270 that has zoom and focus control.

As for the LANC control you saw at NAB, I'll take stab that it is a pressure/speed sensitive switch. Don't know for sure.

Cheers for now,

That is the problem with the lanc controller I have now. The switch is just that. The ramp up speed is so fast that you cannot creep even with the speed control turned to the lowest setting. What I have been doing is post is to use the 3d Pip in Edius to make a slight movement in just as the speaker is making his point.

Ronnie,
I use the Manfrotto 523Pro controller. As well, S270 has a fix/variable switch on the handle for the zoom and speeds can be controlled via the settings menus.

HTH...
