Canon HV20 vs Sony HVR-HD1000U

I was wondering if it was worth the 1800$ upgrading my Canon HV20 for a Sony HVR-HD1000U?

I find that, with my HV20, when I zoom in my footage in my NLA the output is very noisy and not sharp even if it's SD output and I dont zoom the footage more than 1:1 in pixel size.

The HV20 is very highly regarded in its price range. Being another single-chip camcorder, I wouldn't expect the image from the HD1000 to be any better (possibly even not as good).

Please share more info about which NLE you use, are you using DV or HDV footage, what are you trying to do with it that you are unhappy with. Be more specific please

With this in mind would the 1/4" chip Panasonic AG-HMC70U be a better choice?
