Sony GVH-D700 HDV-Walkman editing issue

So I can get a feed to log offline with my walkman to FCP 6.0 on my macbook pro, but I cannot digitize or actually import the info. It reads the time code and there is communication between the walkman and FCP, and the firewire cable probably isn't the problem because it works for imovie. But with FCP, the log and capture window works, except that there is no image, so it does not capture. Are my settings in FCP set incorrectly? Or could it be that I need to use another cable for FCP communication? I don't have the manual on me, but being able to log and not capture seems very strange. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I don't know because you didn't post them.
Your capture window may not provide an image so run a test and see if you can capture HDV OR NOT.
Make sure the deck has the ilink conv set to Off for HDV, in the Rec In/Out menu. And remember the firewire cable needs to be disconnected to make any changes.

Michael,
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
It really was just as simple as making sure the ilink conv is set to Off.
Time to Batch Capture!
Happy New Year,
