Import m2t files
by David Albin on Oct 17, 2008 at 6:27:55 pm

When importing m2t files into an AVID MC I get video just fine, comes in on a fast import but I get no audio.

I know there is audio on the files as I have transcoded a couple of these via MPEG Streamclip.

I would like to avoid recompressing if I could just for quality sake.

These were shot on a Canon XH A1, shot in 1080i/60 directly to a Focus FS-4Pro HD Hard Drive. Then I've been doing a drag and drop. Video comes in as HDV1080i.

If any one can offer suggestion or advise that would be much appreciated.

Thanks
David

Hi David,

Not an Avid user, but try changing .m2t extension to .mpg and see what happens when Importing a clip

Just a shot in the dark

I can import m2t files fine into Avid MC with audio. You can play them with VLC, a free player and they have audio? Download GSpot, a free utility that'll tell you most everything about a video file and see what format the audio and video are, and if you have the codec for them. Can you recapture them with Avid or another HDV capture program? Does a wave form show up in the timeline with just a flat line or no wave track at all? any warnings or errors when importing? Thanks for the suggestions Jeff & Danny,
I did change the extension to mpg and it does import but still without audio.

I will check out the GSpot utility.

Audio waveforms do not show up in the timeline. However I did notice that every once in a while a clip will come in with audio. Not sure the reason why some do and some don't.

These clips are from a four day out of town event that a freelancer shot for us. They all appear to be the same file type.

Again thanks for your suggetions.

Dave
