Sony HDV Captured by Canon HV20?
by Russell Tafarella on Oct 17, 2008 at 4:15:43 am

Hey guys I was wondering if I can capture an HDV tape that was shot with a sony fx1 with a canon hv20 hdv camcorder?
I've been hearing about the problems with the differences in the HDV formats. Please Help! Thanks

I have never used a Canon HDV camera, but I believe you can use this camera as I have read it is a 60i recording device, the same as the Sony.

Good Luck

The main thing is that both cameras must support the same format. If Camera A records in 24p, that tape won't play in Camera B that only supports 60i for instance.

If both cameras support 60i, then there should be no issue, I commonly mix tapes from Sony and Canon in 60i and have no playback issues
