HDV/HD timeline and camera compatibility
by Andy Snyder on Jul 18, 2008 at 6:15:55 pm

First off I should state that I am very green to the whole HD experience. I recently shot a musical performance using an HVX-200 and an HV 30. I shot at 720 24p with the DVX and I shot in HDV1080 24p (cinemode) with the hv30. I captured through the firewire with the HV 30 and imported the clips from the P2 card with the HVX 200. All looked fine in the timeline and I was able to edit with no issues. My problem now is that I am not sure how to export from this timeline. I also would like to know if you can point me in a clear direction as far as workflow for the HVX and the hv30. I would love to be able to use these cameras in tandem if possible. Thanks

I want to use this particular video online...but I also am interested in a workflow that gets me to DVD as well.

You should no problems working with these two cameras in FC 6.0.4. Have attempted an export? You can make a self contained .mov in just about anything you need exporting directly from the timeline and for a DVD you may want to use Compressor and start with the preset DVD setups that best fit your needs. You may find a tutorial that can help you learn Compressor to take advantage of the best setting.

Good Luck
