Capturing JVC HDV into FCP using Capture Now

Hi All
I know a lot of people have problems capturing JVC HDV into Final Cut Pro. Count me part of that community.
I am wondering if anyone else out there might be able to offer some help:
I am trying to capture a 60 min tape into FCP using capture now. The problem is that every time the camera was stopped while shooting, the capture stops, and I get a message saying "There was a problem with the incoming stream." Is there a way around this, or am I doomed to having to capture all my media in small bits?
