HDV: No loss when dubbing from timeline?
by Kent Beeson on Jul 10, 2008 at 11:28:25 pm

Hello

Shot HDV 1080i, captured in FCP to an HDV 1080i timeline - cut a few clips together...question is I need to send a producer raw footage as shot - so is it better to simply dub HDV footage from my Sony FX1 to Sony m15U deck through Firewire or can I "print to tape" my timeline which contains the same footage only condensed a bit?

Point is I want to know if there is a loss of quality from timeline (with the settings I used) as opposed to just dubbing straight from cam to deck - any difference in quality?

Thanks

K

Whenever you render out a timeline you are rebuilding the image, Long GOP is not a codec you want to render out very often, so IMO the native dubbing process would be better and much easier.

Good Luck
