4:3 Ratio with HDV

Hey All,
I'm working on a HDV project, where the end product is a 4:3 web video. Most of the footage is shot in HDV with some SD footage. Is there a way to edit in a 4:3 sequence at the HDV resolution.
I'm editing on FCP 5 (hopefully 6 soon). I've been trying a few different options in the sequence settings but haven't been able to find one that doesn't make me render the HDV footage. Which is why I didn't cut in and SD sequence, everytime I made an adjustment I had to rerender the clip.
Any tips? Anyone else try to do this and come up with a solution or a work around?
Thanks,

Nope ALL HDV video is widescreen.

Whenever your sequence settings do not match the settings of your footage, then you will NEED to render.

Nothing that wont require a render. If you want 4:3 then you are going to need to work in SD, set up a SD timeline place your footage on it, then resize and crop the clips. You can then export a quicktime file of that cropped image and then reimport it into FCP at that point you wont need to render.
There are no "technical solutions" to your "artistic problems".
Don't let technology get in the way of your creativity!

If I were you I'd do your edit in 16:9 then deliver it as letterboxed in a 4:3 frame, the active image will be smaller but you won't be chopping off the sides.

I am working on a similar project in Premiere. I am editing in HDV 1080i mode (Sony) using HDV and 4:3 DV footage.
For web viewing, I have exported a widescreen WMV file with nice results. I also did a test using CS3's H.264 HDTV settings. Most web HD video is 720p.
If you are using online Flash video, you can make it the correct aspect ratio right out of Premiere.
If going to SD DVD Encore will recognize the 16:6 flag on the MPG-2 file and playback will be correct on a DVD player.
Tell us what you web video format is - there should be a solution.
Importing your HDV project into a 4:3 DV project will mean manually resizing every clip.
