Seq Settings question
by Kent Beeson on May 21, 2008 at 8:37:07 pm

Hello

'bout to do my first HDV shoot, client wants the final edited frame size to be 854x480, DV/DVC Pro NTSC...question is: what settings are correct for this - I know to type in the frame size under seq settings, I choose custom, but what about pixel aspect ratio and field dominance? Do I choose NTSC - CCIR 601 or Square (final delivery is web though they may go also DVD)...do I check Anamorphic 16:9 or not? When is Anamorphic correct to use?

Thanks very much

I just tested this by dropping an HDV clip on a new sequence and allowing FC to make the proper setting then exporting as a QuickTime conversion, once the save box comes up I choose Options then Settings, Compression Type is DV/DVC Pro-NTSC, Compressor Quality Best leaving the Aspect ratio as 4:3 then click OK, Once back to the Movie Setting click Size opening the Export Size settings and change to custom 854x480, check the Preserve Aspect ratio box and I set it to Cropped. Name it and save it. It should be what you want.

Good Luck
