I just came back from NAB where I made some tests on the Z7U @24p. I brought my own tape and recorded under various lighting setups. I tried to play back the results (to input into FCP) using my Z1U and the tape would not playback. Does anyone out there know if their is any way to playback the HDV 24p footage?

The Z1U only handles 30 or 25 frame rates. The 24 cineframe is an effect the camera does but it's still recording at 30. Best of luck! Kind Regards,

You must use either the Z7U or the S27 camera, or the HVR M35U deck, to play HDV tapes recorded in the native progressive mode. The Z7U and the S27 can also record 1080/24p over 60i and then the tapes will play in all the older HDV cameras and decks.

I am looking to buy a z7u in the near future.
I have the Sony GV-HD700 walkman which plays HDV video fine. Will it be able to handle z7u 24p tapes or would I need to use the camera or get an m34?
Thanks.
