Z1U 24p conversion
by Vincent Malmgren on Mar 31, 2008 at 12:21:12 am

I'm considering buying a Z1U because it is PAL/NTSC switchable. But I'd also like the ability to shoot in 24p. My question is, how does 1080i footage from the Z1U converted to 24p with something like DVMaker or Nattress compare with native 24p footage from a V1U?

(I've also looked at the Canon XH-A1, which can be upgrade to be both PAL and NTSC and does 24f. But I wouldn't be able to play its footage back in my HVR-1500.)

It converts to 24P very well to create a "film look" - albeit not quite as clean as the native 24P from the V1 on footage I've seen. Worth considering is the additional cost for those 3rd party plug-ins plus the lengthy rendering required as opposed to the footage straight out of the V1U. Check out the EX1 - it's switchable too.
