Need HDMI?

Do you need an HDMI input on your computer in order to capture HDV footage in FInal Cut Express? I use a Sony HDR FX1 and am getting ready to shoot my first HD short film. I dont want to shoot in HD though, if itll pose a problem capturing footage.
