 | HDV workflow thru HDMI?
by Shawn Wyatt on Jul 26, 2007 at 5:57:12 am |
I should get 2 new cameras tomorrow - Canon A1 and HV20 - I also have the Intensity card (but haven't installed it yet).
I kinda jumped in before I figured it all out.
Is anyone using this for input to FCPro?
Will the HDMI of the HV20 play the video from the A1 so that I can capture it in FCPro as DVCProHD or ProRes?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Shawn Wyatt

We have the HV-20 but no A1. With the latest driver from Blackmagic the Infinity grabs HDMI from that little miracle in stunning quality, but I can't confirm if it would play tapes from the A1 or not. Ask Canon!
We tested the H1 a while ago, and it has a different scheme to record full-frame, those tapes don't play in Sony's HVR-15, while the progressive stuff from the HV-20 does (seems to be PSF).

Uli

As long as the tapes are 1080i there shouldn't be a problem, I've played tapes from a HV20 thru a HC7 HDMI with a Intensity on a PC with no problem likewise with tapes from a Z1 and FX7

Thanks guys -
I've been too busy with goofy stuff to play with these new cameras much - but I'm getting ready to dig in!
Please keep the input and suggestions coming!

We have the Sony V1U camera and looking at inputing to FCP with the Intensity Pro, but trying to figure out how to master the final edit back to HD tape. This seems to be the step that people don't address. Doesn't anyone master back to tape these days?
If I input via HDMI via the Intensity Pro as DVCPRO HD, and want to master in the same codec, what's the best option? I'd rather not have to transcode back to HDV.
Thanks,
Vincent
