i dropped my HDR HC1....

....onto concrete. probably 4ft off the ground, and still works perfectly after... only showing a scratch on the battery and a small mark on the corner of the camera. My lens hood has a large crack in it tho (camera would have gotten badly damaged w/o it. All i would have to say, for your first HDV profesional camera, i suggest the HDR HC1 for durability, especially if your in the rough. Some dealers rarely still have stock, otherwise look for used. Also, i was wondering where i could get a replacement lens hood.
