 | HDV to SD DVD 16:9
by Richard17 on Mar 9, 2007 at 12:11:17 pm |
MacBook Pro 17" (OS X 10.4.8) - FCP 5.1.2 - Mac 23" Cinema Display - MXO
Sony DHR-1000 VCR (S-Video and RCA inputs) - Sony 9" Studio Monitor (RCA, S-video, and component inputs) - XL1s - XLH1
Any suggestions for an improved workflow? One resulting in higher quality DVD
-capture HDV files
-create NTSC DV YUV 16:9 Sequence in FCP (set Sequence Motion to Best)
-import HDV files into NTSC Sequence
-render files
-edit
-Export to Compressor choosing NTSC-29.97-16:9-bottom first / one pass CBR (avg. bit rate = 7.0)
Thanks!

Yes. Use BitVice, VBR TWO PASSES. Much better quality than Compressor, I only use that to prepare the audio Dolby ac3 files.

What settings need to be checked in bitvice when working with FCP. I used bitvice with Media 100 and I did like the DVD files it created. Is bitvice still that much better that compressor and what settings need to be checked when working with FCP.

I only use BitVice with Media 100 so can't speak for FCP. I set 'use RGB colour', 'Upper Field First' (only for HD downscaling to SD) and the rest as per my ealier post.
