Sony's Z1 and NTSC/PAL

Is it true that Sony's Z1 series can record in standard definition in both NTSC AND PAL?
If I'm reading the manual correctly, by setting the frequency setting on my Z1u to 50i, when the camera is set to DV mode it records PAL. Likewise on a Z1e, if you set the frequency to 60i, the camera will record in NTSC when set to DV mode.
Can someone confirm that this is really the case? I can really record 625 line PAL DV on my Z1u? (if so, I have some humble pie to eat, but it will go down a lot easier knowing I have a PAL camera in my toolbox.)

[Peter Wright]"Yes, that's my understanding David, except I've been told that technically it's not NTSC or PAL, but simply 60i and 50i."
Thanks Peter, that was my assumption also but that is in the 1080i world. With the camera in standard definition DV mode, it would have to record in one format or the other in order to play out of a DV or DVCam deck and on a sd display.
So, has anyone actually recorded standard def. PAL on a Z1u or NTSC on a Z1e, and sent it out successfully??
