hello... ok had to do a shoot for my US client the other night (i'm in Australia), I had my PAL Z1p which im sure is switchable to NTSC but due to time constraints i did not have time to find the button to switch it over so ended up shooting PAL HDV,
so now im trying to convert it, being the type to take the path of least resistance, i just loaded it into imovieHD, which I have found nice and easy for this type of task, now imovie surpisingly enough does seem to be up to the task, to a degree, but it takes a loooooong time and i've got maybe 24 hours to get this right, my first attempt seemed to get the conversion right but shrank the picture hmm any suggestions? I actually have an NTSC HDV fx1 to output to and i need to maintain its "HDV ness", I can also use final cut pro, if that is a better option.... any advice appreciated.Corey

One more thing:
I doubt that iMovie does vector anlysis (as Compressor does), so if that seemed OK to you, you might get away with conversion in FCP alone with activated frame blending. That'll be much faster, but your client might be unhappy.
Sometimes a few seconds saved in shooting can cost hours in post ;-)
