Hey all. I have posted a couple times in the last month regarding pipeline on a feature-length documentary I'm editing, which was shot with the JVC GY-HD100. As I'm sure most of you know, no one really has an answer for how to handle footage shot with this camera in 24p. I went to a JVC sponsored Film Out event in Los Angeles last week and got to see footage shot in the Jungle by Andrew Young with the HD100 and projected in 35mm. The footage looked pretty good, and I got some good advice on the best settings to use if you are planning for output to film.
Unfortunately, the footage at the film out event was all shot in 30p because it was the only way it could be easily edited in Final Cut then transferred to film. And even then, the method used for the transfer was convoluted, complicated, and would be costly. The transfer was done by Andrew's company, DuArt in New York. I asked the JVC techs and marketing reps if they heard of anything coming that would allow 24p to be edited natively on a mac or any other system. They said the wish they had.
Also, as you know, Lumiere is the only program out there right now that will demux the HD100's transport stream to a 23.98 m2v (kinda, it's buggy). I think I've figured out how to work around the bugs and I successfully captured, converted, cut, and onlined footage for our film out test. The test is ready for viewing and I'm going over with the producers and director on monday to check it out. I'll be reporting back with how it looks and the workflow that I'm using.
If any of you have a workflow that you've figured out for this thing, I'd love to hear. Talk to you soon!

Well I see JVC sent their "A" crew. Not!
Cineform's AspectHD and ProspectHD for the PC both support editing 24p (even befor the cams release) and in fact every mode of HDV from every HDV cam. The mac platform has long lagged behind the PC as far as HDV support.

Hi!. I've 3 JVC Hd100 and I'm editing a documental at 25P in final cut without any problem. I can edit 24p but the problem is back to tape, only back to tape no the editing process. The only format that at this moment can not be edited with final cut is 720 or 1080 50P!!, but I think that with fcp 6 it will be possible.

I'm not sure what you are refering to by native support? You mean you insist on working a feature length film in native HDV? Ouch! I see no advantages to that workflow from a quality or speed standpoint.
"And, the concern here is FILM-OUT. The documentary I am working on is finishing to 35mm. A flawless pipeline has to be in place. "
Your workflow seems anything but flawless. More of an elaborate work-around, that fortunatly, in the end, allows you to edit 24p. Being that is what you need good on you. I hope Apple gets the lead out and helps you out soon!
