pro photog needs HDV help
by kocihernandez on Dec 14, 2005 at 6:08:12 am

I am a staffer at the San Jose Mercury News. We shot canon D1 Mark ll's for print. Today I was just handed a new sony HVR-Z1U and told to go out into the field and shoot stories with the sony, edit them on my apple g4 laptop, creating a quiktime movie to be used on our website and then grab a screen shoot and convert it to a jpeg (about 6megs) using imoviehd and use the jpeg for the paper.

does anyone have any adive on the best setting for this camera to get the best results for jpgs and quicktime movies. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Grew up in Cupertino.

Any way, I just shot some HDV footage and made a still export from the Z1U.

In PS, it came in at 72 dpi at about 24x 18 inches.

Uprezzed it and bumped the dpi.

It looked pretty good. A better program for uprezzing would be PhotoZoom Pro, which assists with artifacting.
