Got a chance to briefly play with the new Canon at NAB Post+.
In the viewfinder or via a SD monitor it's hard to tell much of
anything about this camera. However, viewing it on a HD LCD via SDI
showed a very clean image. No real CA from the lens was visible,
(but I wasn't allowed to take it out in the sun to really test it out :) )
there was some noise in the shadows, albeit very little for this
priced camera, and there was a slight amount of banding on
a greenscreen background near the camera, but not too bad.
What impressed me was the motion from the camera. Even
during fast pans the 24F setting seemed to give an almost
perfect motion blur @ a 48 shutter. Looked like "true" progressive
to me when comparing to dvx, xl2, etc.
having to haul around a edit suite to capture HDSDI is not fun,
but would produce some great images!
