Time Lapse on SonyZ1U?
by tim fuller on Nov 16, 2005 at 9:06:19 pm

Is it possible to do time lapse on the SonyZ1U? Can't find any info in the manual. Thought there might be an after market intervelometer out there.

Long time listener...first time caller. Thanx.

I wouldn't use any camcorder for time lapse

Go with stills. Much easier and more flexible. Canon's 20D is the least expensive camera we could find with an intervelometer. They came out with a new model recently, so you may be able to a pretty good deal on a used one.

Most Canons, like the far cheaper S-line and even the IXUS (not recommended, it lacks manual exposure) can do time lapse when used from a laptop with Canon's free software "Remote Capture". You'll get longer durations and in many cases shorter intervals that way. We've been using a Canon S50 with very good results.
