I tool the plunge today and bought the new Sony Bravia 26" HD monitor, which has a screen resolution of 1366 x 768. Connected to the HD breakout box from my Nvidia PNY540, I have to say that it looks very, very good. These monitors are about half the price of the Sony Wega LCD's, but have a 8ms response time and great motion handling. In South Africa a broadcast HD monitor costs more than a small car, so I've been looking for an affordable option which produces quality pictures. I think I've found it.

I just bought a 26 inch JVC LCD HDTV for 850 bucks. (750 bucks for the monitor and 100 bucks for the HDTV receiver). I was going to get a Sony 30 inch CRT HD built in television for 1000 dollars but the LCD was cheaper and it is lighter so maybe I can carry it around to showcase my work. Before no one would even watch any of my HD home movies on my lousy 17 inch computer screen. My inlaws still did not want to watch my boring home movies but they soon changed their mind after seeing them in full HD glory on a medium size 26 inch screen. Now they can't wait for me to film Disneyland.

This year I purchased an open box 2002 model Samsung HDTV receiver without remote at Best Buy for 99 dollars. If you can find one for this price you better buy it because this is a clearance price and once they are gone they are gone. Walmart sells HDTV receivers for an everyday price of 199 bucks.
