I've had real problems playing back footage from my time line to the camera and seem to have tried everything. Has anyone had a similar experience. I'm close to a deadline and am all out of options. Someone come to my rescue! PLEASE. Many thanks, Dave

Which version of Final Cut are you using? You need FCP5 in order to get your edit back to the Z1 in MPG-2 format. You cannot play it directly back to the camera from the timeline as with DV. It needs to be conformed/rendered back to a Sony-compatible HDV file, which is then exported to tape via firewire. If you've edited in HD rather than HDV then it can not go back to the Z1 in that format. We need to know what hardware you're using as well in order to help.

To send a timeline back to tape is very simple in FCP 5.0. As long as you are working in HDV time line and your easy set up is set to HDV 1080. DO NOT RENDER as this will not speed up the conversion process. Simply go to file and print to tape set the peramiters as needed and click to start. the sequence will be converted to MPEG 2 on the ends of each clip, any rendering needed will also needed to be converted. once this is all done, rather fast but takes some time FCP will bring up a button to send to tape start recording on the camera than click to start.

hi there,
I was wondering wether you'd got over your problem with this camera?
I think I'm seeing the same thing.
I plug the camera in to the firewire and open premier pro CS3 but no device is found.
also the computer usual makes a noise or throws up a message if a devise is connected but this is not happening
I though it might be the drivers but the sony website says this is not the case.
appart from that all I can thin of is to instal windows updates but this doesn't work either.
