FX1 vs. Z1U - "HD out to iLink:"

Oh God, I'm sure there has been a million posts about FX1 vs. Z1U. I think I'm going with the FX1 for now, and I know the differences, but there is one feature that doesn't make sense. According to a few sites that I've seen, they claim that the Z1U has real-time HD out to iLink, the FX1 has a "2 sec. delay."
How will that affect editing? Will I hear the sound from my PC's sound card 2 seconds before I see the picture being pumped out the IEEE port to the FX1, to the External Video mon?

Currently you need the Matrox Parhelia or Nvidia Quadro PNY 540 which offer HD component outputs to an external timeline for PC, or a Decklink/Kona card for Mac. No live images from the timeline out through firewire as in DV when editing HDV I'm afraid!

Thanks Derek.
I use SONY Vegas 6.0b and from my understand it does support full HDV editing w/ previews to external monitor. My pre-NAB understanding was that it wasn't possible, but at NAB I could swear I saw them editing on Vegas 6, straight out the IEEE to the Z1U to a HDTV. I could be 100% wrong, so please pardon my cluelessness.
I just posted to the Sony Vegas Forum and to the Creative Cow Vegas forum to find out more details.
Vegas is working very well with HDV... I think Sony has something at stake...
If anyone using Vegas can tell me otherwise, please do.

Derek, Still waiting to hear back... some of these forums are slow, or people must hate me :p.
My video card actually is a Parhelia so perhaps it could work after all. I wonder how people monitor HDV footage? I mean, I could do a Black Magic card, but then I'd have to capture at full HD resolution via component outs on the FX1. The overhead would kill me... I'd buying 10K scsi drives...

Be patient, most of us have work to do! HDV monitoring thru Z1 does not work on ANY system so no luck there I'm afraid. Go with whatever Sony recommends for HD out in Vegas - they must recommend something?

Thanks guys, you're right. Here is what I heard back from the Vegas forum::
"No.... you cannot preview to an FX1/Z1U direct from the timeline. V6 [Vegas] did introduce a way for us to preview full-screen onto a second monitor. So if (for instance) you have a 24" widescreen HD monitor (like I have) you can preview all the pixels to that screen."
Oh, and I meant that other forums took awhile to get a reply from... besides, you shouldn't be doing work on Fridays!

I'm in the process of building a new HDV edit suite based on an AMD 3500+ 64X system, with a Nvidia PNY 540 video card with HD breakout box plus an additional video card so that I can run two computer monitors PLUS a HD broadcast monitor from the PNY breakout box. Does anybody have any experience configering the video cards so that I can run PP1.51 on the two computer monitors plus the external monitor?
