Hi,

I'm a well versed web designer and starting a large project that I'd like some opinions about if possible. What platform should I use?

• What is the best option for a high traffic website that needs a blog with commenting abilities? I'd like there to be the option for users to comment on separate pictures requiring multiple blogs. How can I accomplish this task?

• There's the strong possibility a store will be integrated in the future.

• It needs to be heavily optimized and of course as secure as possible.

I'm quite comfortable in Dreamweaver but open to Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress or developing something entirely from scratch if that's what it takes. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi Sitruc,

Thank you! I'd love more details.

I've made a dozen sites with Joomla and wasn't very pleased with the plugins, updates, and being limited to modules. I've never worked with Drupal but understand it's more for coders. I just got a book called Blog Solutions and yet to delve into it. I need commenting features, ecommerce, and seo friendly.

You've got my attention…

Eric

hello...

ya - drupal is everything plus the kitchen sink and it is a more advanced tool, and i'd argue that it's also often overkill for most projects...

in terms of blog software, wordpress has become the de facto standard, and i think a fine one at that. you will need some knowledge of both it and html/css/javascript to customize templates, but it is not that hard to do. it also offers you the sky in terms of configuration and options.

as for ecommerce - there are a lot of plugins for wordpress, or you can do a paypal thing and customize your own down the road.

i wouldn't worry so much about seo to be honest - it's a moving target, and your time is much better focused on more traditional marketing rather than assuming that getting your site on the first page of a google search will guarantee success.

I'm definitely partial to WordPress.
It's the one that I find a better all around tool.
I've used drupal and joomla myself and for my clients. They are not as friendly as I find WordPress being.

Let me know if you'd ever like to collaborate on a project involving WordPress.

Thanks for posting. Good luck.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the comments. Do you find the templates easy to manipulate if you have access to CSS? Are you satisfied with the plugins? Can you easily add ecommerce to an existing site?

Thanks

Hi, All the best for your project. You can use the dream weaver, You can optimize your site with any of the service provider who gives service at an economical charge. If you integarate a store to you site in future, that too also need to be optimized. Search for the ad words and then optimize your site. Thanks

The current scene in market with design, SEO and E-Commerce have more influence. To get with such technologies, we always think that which is best option for me? If you had vast experience in design and E-commerce projects, you must have to align with Wordpress to know power of this open source CMS.

SEO, E-Commerce and blogging: all-in-one will be maintained easily with word press platform. Hope that you had started your new project in itself to climb up at top.

Enjoy man!
