Hi,

I'm not sure why the width is off on my website in Internet Explorer but it's really bugging me! If anyone knows what the fix is, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks,

Eric

Hi,

I'm using an older PC to test IE with version 6 or 7. I think the latest is 9, so I'd imagine it's 3-4 years old. The page is wider than it is everywhere else. Moreover there's a wide space on the right where the header ends. It's as if it's ignoring my CSS. I've attached a photo I took with my iPhone.

Any ideas?

hello...

ahh - i am running ie7 via ie9 in compatibility mode, and that is not always true to the original...

i honestly wouldn't worry about it - here's usage shares for ie and then for specific versions:

http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_explorer.asp

ie6 is actually over a decade old and ie7 is nearly that. both are primarily only still used internationally and in very strict corporate environments. if you have visitors with those browsers, they are likely used to seeing a lot wrong with most sites anyway as very few sites still support them any longer.

it is a css setting somewhere, but again - i'd let it go, myself as long as the site itself is functional...

Wow. Over a decade old. You couldn't be more accurate about strict corporate environments. Spot on! I'll let it go.

Thanks!!

hello...

you might enjoy this site:

http://www.ie6countdown.com/

note that it's owned and run by microsoft themselves, so even they can't stand that browser anymore... :-)

(v7 is a smidge more common, but definitely 8 and 9 are the ones i'd worry about these days. i try to make sure that a site at least vaguely renders in ie7 and i'm happy)

Very cool. I just forwarded the link and added the code to my site. I've never been a fan of IE. Probably because I'm a Mac user.

Cheers
