Smoke & Kona LHi vs. 3

Is this possible? I read some posts from January 2010 discussing this very matter but there was no conclusion. I have a system with a Kona LHi and Break Out Box. I only need monitoring at this time. No ingest from tape is needed currently. Will the Smoke on a Mac work, as far a external SDI monitoring utilizing the Kona LHi instead of the recommended Kona3? If not, why not? this is the real question.

Hi,

Smoke only runs with the Kona 3 card. As far as I was told by AJA, the Kona 3 card still offers the required functionality by Smoke which is not supported by the LHi.

The Kona 3 is the only supported card for Smoke. Any other AJA cards will simply be ignored by the software.
