Sorry for the late reply and I'm not in Dallas but I can probably answer a lot of your questions. I've been using Velocity based systems since 1998 and we still have 4 in use at our facility.
I was on vacation the last week but usually monitor this forum daily...so ask away if you like.
You can also get a lot of info on the DPSedits list on Yahoo Groups at:

You have to join but it's free and you can set up your email to send a digest of replies or no replies and just monitor posts on the list.
