Dvd Studio Pro 16X9 Letterbox issue.
I have been going at this issue for three days now, and would really love some advice please.
I am trying to burn a DVD for client that is 16X9 SD format that plays without letterbox on a Widescreen monitor/TV.
I have tried compressing the video with both DVDSP and using the default "DVD best quality 90 minutes" setting in Compressor. Both have not worked out.

In the DVDSP preferences I have SD boxed checked and 16X9 LETTERBOXED setting checked for all tracks and menus. Also in project I have the same settings set for each track.
I tried using Pan-Scan even though I never created vectors for it in original file ( just running out of options ) and that just made the final result too big for 16X9 screen. Titles and lower thirds bleed off screen.
The original format was created and exported in Apple ProRes 422 1920 X1080.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
Does original export need to be a different format or anamorphic?
Am I compressing using the wrong settings or am I missing something in DVD Studio Pro. Please help! I really appreciate any input. Thanks!

If the movie you are compressing is 1920x1080 you need to make sure the compressor preset aspect ratio is set to 16x9' then in dvdsp you choose 16:9 Letterbox.

Then we have tons of theads about down converting within dvdsp. Short answer, don't.

Hi John.

If your original footage is 1920x1080 (16:9), and you want to play it back on DVD, you have to convert it to either 720x480 or 720x576 (NTSC or PAL, respectively). These frame sizes obviously aren't 16:9, so you have to change the pixel aspect ratio (stretch the image) to get a nice 16:9 frame. This is indeed known as anamorphic, and it may mean having to re-export your original footage to an anamorphic output.
