switching streams with buttons over video

I have a dance recital that we are trying to switch between wide screen view and close up views. We used a compressed edited clip in V1 and a wide view only in V2. Following a tutorial posted by Dave Nagel everything worked fine on the computer but when you actually try to use in the DVD player the select button on the remote gets no response. You can select either of the two buttons and they will show they are selected but will not switch streams. Any help would be appreciated.
