DVD Menu / Aspect ratio / Blurry
by Karim Cherif on Nov 3, 2009 at 8:41:15 am

Hi People.

I created a layered DVD menu in PS. The font is pretty big. The canvas was set to 1024 x 576 sq. pixel.

When I bring this in to DVDSP the menu looks crap, even after the build.

Do I need to change the aspect ration in PS before I bring it into DVDSP?

tnx.

Hi Karim

First, have you read the manual? it describes the procedure in excruciating detail.
Second, after you have read the relevant section either squeeze your menu to 720x576 in Photoshop. or change the pixel aspect ratio to PAL widescreen. Changing aspect ratio would involve some more manipulating than just squeezing.

Hi Alex.
Yes I read the manual as I went along. As with some projects, they sometimes ask you to do something that you normally don't do... like create a DVD menu. So I thought... 'how hard can it be'... well it is not hard, you just have to follow the rules.... ;-)

but tnx.

Ok... I think I did a booboo...
You should create the orginal PSD menu in PS in the correct aspect ratio. So no square pixel.
