HELP! My DVD's only play in Macs!

Hey there,
I'm a graphic designer that, in recent years, has become my offices resident AE/animation pro.
I recently had a project where I had to build an animated presentation to be played back on a dvd. I've dabbled a bit in DVD Studio Pro, and was able to teach myself the basics of the program, but the issue I run into is when I'm ready to burn.
Seems the discs I produce work in Macs just fine, but are unrecognizable to PCs and standard DVD players. I've had this problem before when I just hit "Burn", but when I played around and used "Build and Burn", it seemed to resolve itself. Unfortunately I had no such luck this time.
My work flow is as follows:
Make animations in AE > Render Quicktime Movies with mpeg 4 compression from AE > import video and still (.psd files) components into DVD SP > build DVD project > select "Build and Burn" > test DVD in standard dvd player > cry.
Like I said earlier, my background is graphic design, I'm pretty new to video stuff and extremely green with formats and such. I've done my best to be detailed, but I am honestly not sure what's important and what's not, so let me know if there are any details I've left out that would help.
One thing I've noticed is that when you open a normal, store bought DVD on a computer, it has a VIDEO_TS file and an AUDIO_TS file. My homemade discs only have an HVDVD_TS file, and the DVD-ROM files I told it to include. I've scoured the manual, but the most I've been able to find is that there is either a VIDEO_TS or HVDVD_TS file, nothing on how to select which your disc burns with. I have a feeling this has something to do with my problem, but I still don't know what it means.
Thanks in advance to whoever takes the time to read this novel of a post and offer up advice.

Hello,
Is it possible to create an HD DVD on a DVD+R or -R? Here's the workflow I have been using to produce a 17:00 SD-DVD:
Panasonic HVX200 P2 footage (shot in 1080i60i),
--edited in FCP,
--HD timeline exported to Compressor,
--change a m2v preset to "one pass cbr" bitrate of 6.5 Mbps.,
--SD-DVD authored in DVD Studio Pro.
Looks OK, but I wanted the final product submitted to a TV station to be HD, not SD. When I try to author the product in DVD Studio Pro as an HD project, the only option given is to burn it to Red or Blue Laser, neither of which I think the TV station will have to view the project.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Diane

One more time, from the rooftop, HD DVD is a DEAD format, if you want to see HD material to friends to view on a newer Mac or someone you know has a discontinued HD DVD then it is fine to use. and yes you can burn them onto a DVD-R. DVD-R is red laser.
The chances of a TV station wanting or accepting a HD DVD is next to not in a million years. IF you are delivering to a station ask them, "what do you need from me?" They almost always want a tape.

Michael,
Thanks for clearing that up. Tape. I get that much.
But I'm more confused than ever about the workflow. If DVDs are not an option to maintain the HD quality of your project, do you save the project to an external hard drive and then transfer it directly to Beta?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
