DVD Studio Pro cannot recognize Widescreen SD Video

Hi,
I have a 16 by 9 SD clip (actual size: 720x480-playback size: 853x480) that I want to use for the background menu in DVD Studio Pro. Every time I drag the clip to the menu, it resizes it to 4 by 3, thereby squishing the video. This happens even when I set the preferences to display the menu at 16 by 9. The video clip plays fine in Quicktime (it recognizes that it's 16 by 9 and automatically stretches it out). I also tried to resize the video to native 853x480 but DVD studio pro still squishes it. What are my options? I figure if nothing works, I'll just screw the 16 by 9 and make a 4 by 3 menu.

Try making a new menu track and setting to 16:9 first, then dropping in the clip. Also encode to MPEG-2 first as 16:9 anamorphic- that should fix it. I make 16:9 menus all the time this way.
