assigning menu buttons to remotes
by Nelson May on May 22, 2009 at 4:58:46 pm

I asked this question a little earlier but got a fairly generic answer. I was trying to find the best way to assign menu options to remote control buttons, and was told that I wasn't going to cover every remote control out there. I completely understand that, but I am about to create 7 DVDs for a client that has to go into duplication by the end of the month. I made demos for the client to look at, and they can't get them to work on a win computer, and I am not sure what the DVD player software is.

Anyway, my question is: Can you give me some generic settings that you use for all DVDs that you send out to clients? This is a talking head thing with an opening screen that goes to a menu. This menu then goes to 4 1/2 hour programs and the programs come back to the menu on the end jump. I would like to:

1. be able to set a button that will return to the menu from a 1/2 hour program.
2. A fast forward or rewind that can get you through the 1/2 hour program.
3. An also and end jump and restart for the 1/2 hour program.

Again, I know DVDSP has these set up when I set the buttons and end jumps, but I want to make sure most DVD remotes will respond to the same buttons.

Thanks.

[Nelson May] "1. be able to set a button that will return to the menu from a 1/2 hour program. " are you talking about a button over the video? if so just take the manual for buttons over video. You put the graphic on the subtitle track with an overlay.

[Nelson May] "2. A fast forward or rewind that can get you through the 1/2 hour program. " This cannot be done with a button only with a remote control.

[Nelson May] "3. An also and end jump and restart for the 1/2 hour program. "
no idea what you are asking here.
