Layered menu optimization

Hi,
I have read all "layered menu" posts and I am aware of all disadvantages using of using them but is there any way to optimize .psd file or DVDSP project so switching from one selected button to another is a little bit faster. I have all my normal states as a part of background and my selected and activated state as a same layer but still it is is significant delay when going from button to button. Is Encore maybe better to use with layered menu.? Any other ideas?

Unfortunately No, Encore won't speed things up either.
