Cand change Encoder Settings
by Josh Evans on Oct 17, 2008 at 6:00:56 am

I have a MPEG2 file that comes up as 4.8 Gig, just outside the limits of my DVD-R.

Im trying to change encoder settings to make it fit on the DVD, but when i right click on the Movie file, the Encoder settings option is greyed out.

Why is this? Is it because you cant change encoder settings on a MPEG2?

Do I have to use a quicktime file?

You should re-create the MPEG-2 by compressing the source video file in Compressor, and use a higher compression setting. The default settings may help: DVD-Best Quality 120-min or 150-min. I wouldn't try to recompress the current MPEG-2... I don't even know if that is possible.
