adding audio to a layered menu?

This seems like a fairly obvious question, but I've created a complicated interactive menu in DVD Studio Pro version 4, where each menu is a layered menu (each menu contains a psd image with many layers where buttons have a glow around them when you select them). It seems that it is impossible to add audio, or if it is possible I cannot find the function. According to the DVD Studio Pro user manual, which I find incredibly frustrating, you can not add audio to a layered menu.
Is this correct? And if so, how can I get around it? The manual says you can add audio to a standard menu with an overlay, but does not say how. With a standard menu how can I create buttons as previously stated?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is for my graduating project! Thanks :)

Can't be done- the DVD spec allows for motion menus with audio OR single layer menus with audio OR silent layered menus. At issue is that the laser has to load each layer one at a time and so playing a video or audio track at the same time is physically impossible. Blu-Rays let you load audio/video into RAM so you can do whatever but DVDs no.
