HD issues 'can not incert NTSC assets into PAL....
by collin sie on Sep 3, 2008 at 5:27:41 pm

Hello helpful people. I'm sorry that this may be a totally ‘pre-K’ question. I'm in hell trying to sort out this stuff for a corporate job and am up against the wall – I’ve been searching to forum with no success.

I'm running FCP studio 2 and am working with HD for the first time. I’m running it on a brand new mac book pro. I’ve used easy set up in FCP and chosen all formats - 25 fps and HDV- 1080i50. I’m working with a Sony HD in what I’m guessing is PAL (I’m in the UK) I’ve done this a thousand times pre HD but I’m missing something with the jump to HD footage.
Here’s the basic question – Why is DVD Studio pro telling me I can’t bring NTSC assets into a PAL project. It’s only happening on some of my sequences and I can't tell why some work and others don’t.

I’m also running into a lot of problems with batch capturing with this camera and the above capture settings. I keep getting ‘error’ when trying to batch capture. I’ve increase pre-roll but no success.
Again REALLY sorry as many of you must have dealt with this 2-3 years ago. I really appreciate any help.
Cheer,
Collin

Which Camera and what settings?
You certainly cannot bring NTSC into a PAL project, so some of your media must be in the non-matching format. Go check it out in the QT player (get movie info)

Cheers
Alexander
