Wrong subtitles appear
by Carlos Pérez Botella on Aug 12, 2008 at 3:32:05 pm

Hi everyone,

I've created a mulitlingual DVD including Spanish and English subtitles, and I'm having problems when playing my TS folder on DVD Player.

The subtitles menu includes includes 3 buttons: one for Spanish, another for English and another for no subtitles. This last one works fine, but if I activate either Spanish or English, I always get the Spanish subs on (stream 1). Everything is correctly linked, the "view" box is activaded and the DVD Player settings don't have a default language selected (it is marked "same as disc"). I have already rebuilt the project several times and even tried different computers, but the problem is always the same. My DSP version is 4.1.0 and I'm currently using a new iMac with these features:

Nombre del modelo: iMac
Identificador del modelo: iMac8,1
Nombre del procesador: Intel Core 2 Duo
Velocidad del procesador: 2.8 GHz
Número de procesadores: 1
Número total de núcleos: 2
Caché de nivel 2: 6 MB
Memoria: 4 GB
Velocidad del bus: 1.07 GHz
Versión de la ROM de arranque: IM81.00C1.B00
Versión SMC: 1.30f1

I have already created many DVDs and this is the first time I have this problem. Maybe I should use scripts, but I don't know very well how to use them.

Thanks to everybody.

Best,
Carlos

To avoid any confusion that may be happening within DVDSP during playback, you could create a separate track for each language with only one subtitle stream per track. Try duplicating your tracks and have one track for Eng, one for ESP, and one for no subtitles. Menu buttons would link appropriately.

If you do not have the disc space to duplicate the tracks, try to use stories. One track on the DVD, but the menu buttons link to the Eng story w/Eng subtitles, or the ESP story w/ESP subtitles, etc..
