text and logo in menus issues
by marc mcdermott on Jul 29, 2008 at 10:24:38 am
I have been trying to get closure on a major project for weeks now, but have been unsuccessful in solving the only problem I have.
My text, and the logo on the menu backgrounds, are blurry on build. Originally all the text was created in Photoshop, but now it is all within DVD SP, with no real improvement. Also, I noticed yesterday that the logo supplied is sharp in its own Photoshop file, no matter how much I blow it up, but gets an anti-alias effect when dragged onto the file for the menu backgrounds - which stumped me.
Any help gratefully accepted. Clients will be breathing down my neck again tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply. I had seen that thread you mention, and had tried making the menu using the format for film & video, preset for PAL D1/DV widescreen, with the pixel aspect ratio also set to D1/DV PAL widescreen (1.42). This didn't seem to make much difference.
Text always looks a bit fuzzy, whether I make it in Photoshop on the background, or within DVDSP. It looks sharp when first typed in DVDSP, less so when clicked away from, or burned to disk. Perhaps I am expecting too much from the software? I normally make DVDs that just play, rather than have 10 menus.
