Specs
Mac A 10.4.11
Mac B 10.4.11
Server: X-san
DVD Studio Pro
encode map is on server accessible for all users
encode settings on both computer are 4mb average and 7Mb max
both versions 4.2.1
Problem:
Project completed, all assets rendered on Mac A. ready to burn
SAVE ALL.
I open the project on Mac B.
all assets have to be relinked or rerendered.
Thats not right, right? ;-)
The program should see the already redered files whithout any redefining.

Jef,
For this to work as smoothly as possible you need to set DVD SP preferences to save PAR and rendering files within DVD SP project file. The default settings place PAR and other files by the source files, and if you imported QuickTime assets instead of MPEG and AC3 files this will not work reliably. Also, changing preferences applies to new projects only. Older projects are not affected. Of course your project file will be bigger and more vulnerable, so your setup needs a UPS to be included as any break in the network could render project file unusable.
Finally, all assets need to be stored on the server, preferably in the same directory (you could make it several levels deep, separating graphics from sounds etc), copying them there after the fact will result in re-linking and re-rendering. One more thing, project created on one station and built on the other needs to be vigorously QC'd to prevent nasty surprises, and a check-disc at the replication plant is a must.
